Dirk (Derk) Wiggers (1866-1933) is a self-taught artist, who specialised in panoramas of the river landscapes, but also painted still-lives and farmsteads. He lived and worked in various parts of the Netherlands ('t Gooi, Berg en Dal, Den Haag) and made several long trips abroad (Belgium, France, Spain, Italy). Wiggers was member of Arti e Amicitiae in Amsterdam and Pulchri Studio in The Hague. From 1885 his work was included in exhibitions on a regular basis. His work can be found in various museums like Museum Boymans-van Beuningen (Rotterdam), Haags Gemeentemuseum (The Hague) or Rijksmuseum Kröller-Müller (Otterlo).
